Goose 9.32 difference us smithy didn't commit what effectively amounted to manslaughter.
He ( not smithy) should have done a longer term in a stricter category of prison.( if that is the right term for it
Look at the difference in their sentence. Effectively Smithy served mire time for not divulging info than he got for all his crimes put together. It's frigging insane.

I wouldn't fancy it, having spent a bit of time working in various prisons across the south east a few years ago, but some are definitely more tolerable than others. HMP Mount or High Point would probably be my prisons of choice.

If you do not comply with a properly given notice, you can be prosecuted. If you know the information required and refuse to provide it, you can be sentenced to a maximum of 2 years imprisonment or 5 years imprisonment for an offence involving national security or child indecency.
Looks like they went for the max.
Personally I think it’s bollocks. The right to remain silent has been in law since time started.
I’m guessing the extra two years was ‘worth’ it rather than giving up the information.

There’s a law called the RIPA Act. They prosecuted me under section 49. I don’t know the ins and outs of the specific law though

Not being an expert in law, does the right to remain silent not count when it comes to PIN numbers on mobiles?

Vexed… got caught up in someone else’s obbo and it went from there.
Got 2 years for failing to handover the pin to the encro. All in I got 12 years, 25% off took me to 9 and then I’d been on bail for 2 years before they finally remanded me so the judge gave me another 18 months off and left me 7.5 to do
